Canadian Association on Gerontology Awards.

The Canadian Association on Gerontology (CAG) offers a number of awards and bursaries each year to outstanding individuals in the field of gerontology.

We are pleased to announce nominations and applications are now being accepted for six (6) awards:

Distinguished Member Award
Recognizes a member of CAG who has contributed significantly to furthering the objectives and
activities of the CAG. This is the CAG's highest honour.
Value: No monetary value

Award for Contributions to Gerontology
To recognize an individual who has recently made an outstanding contribution to the field of aging.
Value: No monetary value

Honorary Member
A form of recognition of and gratitude towards the recipient.
Value: A complimentary membership for life.

Evelyn Shapiro Mentoring Award
The CAG believes that mentoring of students, new academics, and emerging scholars is an essential objective of the Association and thus recognizes an individual who has demonstrated their role of mentor over a substantive period of time, and is recognized by members of the Association as a mentor, as evident in letters of support.
Value: No monetary value

Margery Boyce Award
To support post-baccalaureate students who have made a significant contribution to their community through volunteer activities with or on behalf of seniors and who are registered in a program of study focused on aging or the aged. Preference will be given to persons returning to university after an absence from formal study.
Value: $500

Donald Menzies Bursary
To support post‐baccalaureate students registered in a program of study focused on aging or the aged.
Value: $1500

Please note all applications are due on or before April 15, 2010. Award decisions will be made by the CAG Awards Committee and applicants will be notified of their status by June 30, 2010.
